Schools reopen in China

Tens of thousands of students were seen heading to schools in Shanghai and Beijing on Monday after months of closure to curb the spread of the corona virus in China.

China has largely curbed the spread of the deadly disease, but the country is still on high alert due to the growing number of cases from abroad and the dangers of a second wave of infection in the country's northeast.

Education began last month in schools across the country that were closed or had online classes. High schools in Wuhan, the epicenter of the corona virus, are set to reopen on May 6.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Education, students in the capital will have their temperatures checked at school doors and will have to show a "green" health code on a special app that calculates a person's risk of infection.

The ministry said some schools in Beijing had also practiced reopening.
